Chargers agree to terms with QB Jake Browning
With Trey Lance on injured reserve with a groin injury, the Chargers needed quarterback help.
They worked out quarterbacks Jake Browning and Kyle Trask, along with cornerback Jalyn Armour-Davis, wide receiver Ronnie Bell, wide receiver Luke Grimm, wide receiver Chris Hilton, wide receiver Tejhaun Palmer and wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster.
They signed Grimm to the practice squad, and Tom Pelissero of Netflix reports that the team has come to terms with Browning. It is unclear whether Browning is signing with the practice squad or the active roster.
Justin Herbert and DJ Uiagalelei are the only quarterbacks on the 53-player roster.
Browning, 30, was with the Bengals the past four seasons before joining the Bucs in free agency this offseason. Tampa Bay cut him out of the preseason.
He has appeared in 17 games with 10 starts and has completed 68.5 percent of his passes for 2,707 yards with 18 touchdowns and 15 interceptions.
