Stony Point Tigers vs SMCA
On December 29, 2020, Stony Point High School varsity boys basketball team played non divisional opponent St. Michael’s Catholic Academy in a very close defensive game. Stony Point was leading at the end of first half 19-17, but St. Michael’s won the game in the second half 47-42. Stony Point had a chance to tie the game with 46 seconds remaining in the game but missed their last shot. For more about the game, watch the gameday highlights below.
NTBA Nationals Super Regionals Championship
The 5th NTBA Nationals Super Regional Boys 7&8th Grade Championship was in San Antonio, Texas on August 8-9, 2020. The tournament games were held at two San Antonio facilities at, “Factory of Champions” and at “Alamo City Christian”. The event featured several teams from different states. Some of the teams in the tournament included, Victoria Sting, Texas Grind, Lonestar Rebels, Blue Chips, San Antonio Choppers and many others. ProSkills San Antonio won the 7th grade tournament, by defeating Centex Attack 13U in the championship title game. Both teams came into the finals undefeated in their weekend play 4-0, but it was ProSkills SA,TX that managed to finish 5-0 to be crowned NTBA Nationals 7th Grade Super Regional champions. The Lone Star State Championships
On August 15-16th, The Lone Star state basketball championship was held in Buda, Texas. The tournament featured boys and girls youth basketball teams at all levels. The boys 7th/8th Grade pool A bracket consisted of the following teams, Texas Hardwork 2025, United Sports Advantage, Centex Attack 13U Regional, CTX Knights and Freestyle. Texas Hardwork 2025 were crowned the 7th/8th boys champions after going undefeated in the tournament 4-0. The following are gameday tape highlights of some of the games played in pool A.
“I-35 Battle”, Basketball Tournament Highlights
I-35 or Interstate 35 is a major interstate in central United States that stretches from Laredo, Texas, near the Mexican border all the way to Minnesota. In Texas, it connects major Texas cities, Corpus Christi, San Antonio, Austin and Dallas. On July 25th and 26th, 2020, several youth basketball teams from Corpus Christi, San Antonio, Austin and Dallas were in Austin, Texas at the Saint Michael Athletic Center to compete for the “I-35” basketball championship. Austin based, Nike Cy-Fair Elite Grey, were crowned the weekend tournament champions, winning the weekend games 3-0. Second place was Centex Attack 13U Regional that finished the weekend with a record of 2-1. Other teams that participated in the the tournament pool A were, “Just Play Sports”, “Dark Horse Hoops”, “SA Nike ProSkills”, “House 4 Hoops” and NTX Prowlers”.
