Artem Lobov Alleges Conor McGregor Had Mother Threatened, Car Burned
An old pal of Conor McGregor turned foe has made new allegations against the struggling UFC star.
Artem Lobov was a key member of McGregor’s inner circle during his run to double-champ status, a training partner of the Irish star at SBG Ireland. It was Lobov who was cornered and assaulted by Khabib Nurmagomedov’s crew during the UFC 222 Fight Week in 2018, leading to McGregor storming a bus at the Barcaly’s Center later in the week, not to mention the chaos at UFC 229 months later when a near-riot broke out following Nurmagomedov vs. McGregor.
Still, the once close friends had a notorious falling out, leading to Lobov suing McGregor over a stake in his Proper 12 whiskey, a case settled earlier this year prior to going to trial.
Now, in a post to social media on Monday, Lobov has made the claim that McGregor “sent people to burn my car and threaten my 60 year old mother with a hammer.”
The claim was made in relation to McGregor announcing that his next fight will be his last. “Last fight happened many years ago, now its about supporting the habit. In my humble opinion of course,” stated Lobov, alluding to supposed drug and alcohol abuse by McGregor.
In a response to a fan who claimed Lobov had avoided his rival in the past, Lobov then stated that “I was at SBG every Tuesday and Thursday all these years, didn’t see him anywhere. He went on X, sent people to burn my car and threaten my 60 year old mother with a hammer, but never had the balls to call my number directly…I am the godfather of always showing up, thought (sic) Conor how to be a real fighter. But he calls me out at 4am haha that’s junkie o’clock, I was a sleep with me kids. Allegedly of course.”
In addition to the lawsuit over Proper 12, Lobov previously sued Conor McGregor for defamation, after McGregor called him a “rat” in social media posts. “The Russian Hammer” didn’t fare well in that endeavor, with a judge calling it “draconian” and issuing a preliminary award for McGregor in regards to legal costs.
Lobov (13-15-1, 1NC) had a brief stint in the UFC, fighting seven times from 2015 to 2018. He later went 2-1 for BKFC, briefly becoming the poster boy of the promotion for a pair of fights with Jason Knight, as well as a showdown with former boxing champ Paulie Malignaggi.
