Conor McGregor Calls Next Bout “My Last Fight”
Conor McGregor has suggested that his next fight may be his last.
On Sunday, McGregor took to social media to question what the latest Canelo Alvarez card drew in terms of viewership.
“How many views did the Canelo fight get? How many in attendance? Gate?” questioned McGregor, who went down due to injury in his ill-fated match-up with Max Holloway during this year’s International Fight Week.
“Man I outdo ALL of these people in sales. Majorly. EVERY SINGLE ONE. With ease. Maybe even combined.”
“I don’t even be trying,” McGregor added. “I was on the same time as the World Cup semi final and still done all them numbers in that last bullshit that I’ve to sit with for another few months before I return.”
“I’m going to actually try to sell the fight for my next one. My final fight. See what numbers I can generate. Keep outdoing my own records,” the UFC’s biggest star finished.
McGregor is widely believed to have one fight left on his contract with the UFC, meaning his next fight very well could be his last for the promotion. There remains lucrative paydays in boxing for the Irish star, however, should he choose to pursue them. That said, McGregor, 38, hasn’t won a fight since a 2020 victory over Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone. He’s lost three straight, the last two of which saw him fall to injury.
In the mid-2010s, Conor McGregor found himself on an unparalleled run in the UFC, claiming both featherweight and lightweight gold simultaneously, the first fighter to do so. He was stripped of both titles for not defending them, instead pursuing a payday in boxing opposite Floyd Mayweather Jr.
