Robert Whittaker Meets Bogdan Guskov in UFC Sydney Co-Headliner

Robert Whittaker will continue on in the light heavyweight division, and has his next assignment set.

The former UFC middleweight champion will take part in the UFC Sydney co-main event in February, when Whittaker (27-9) faces off against Bogdan Guskov (18-4-1).

Promotion officials recently announced the match-up, with Whittaker taking part care of a video reveal.

“The Reaper” snapped a two-fight skid when he moved to 205lbs for his last fight, defeating Nikita Krylov in the third round of their UFC 329 match-up. Born in New Zealand, Whittaker fights out of Sydney, Australia but hasn’t competed there since November of 2014, when he defeated Clint Hester as part of the UFC Sydney: Rockhold vs. Bisping card.

Guskov enters the fight coming off a TKO loss to Magomed Ankalaev at UFC Abu Dhabi this past July. That snapped a five-fight unbeaten streak that saw Guskov capture four wins, and fight to a draw with ex-light heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz.

Whittaker is ranked #11, and Guskov #10 in the UFC’s Meta AI rankings, as well as in the media rankings.

UFC Sydney takes place on February 7, 2027 at the AfterPay Arena in Sydney, Australia and is headlined by Quillan Salkilled taking on Benoit St-Denis at lightweight. The following match-ups have been reported for the event to date:
