Jacobe Smith remained undefeated with a dominant, wrestling heavy performance to beat Randy Brown at UFC Vegas 123.

While he wasn’t able to produce one of his highlight reel finishes, Smith showed that he could control a veteran opponent over three rounds as he cruised to victory on Saturday night. Along the way, Smith sliced open Brown with his most significant strike on the ground and that helped him cruise to victory with all three judges scoring the fight 30-26 to give him the victory.

β€œIt just solidifies the greatness and the hard work with the people I surround myself with,” Smith said about his latest win. β€œI just feel like I’m good everywhere and I can do whatever. Dallas, what’s up baby? Give me somebody. Ya’ll got [Gabriel] Bonfim? Sean Brady?

Smith was quick on his front foot, throwing kicks but Brown was using his range effectively to ensure he didn’t get stuck against the fence. Smith continued chipping away with leg kicks before exploding forward with his first takedown in the fight.

Smith threw some ground and pound but Brown defended well until the round ended.

On the restart, Smith scored another takedown with Brown again playing defense on the bottom.

This time, Smith was blasting away with some really nasty elbows including a shot that opened a gash on Brown’s head that immediately started gushing blood. The cut was leaking badly as Smith continued his assault on the ground.

With five minutes remaining, Smith seemed like he was more willing to stand and trade with his opponent bu then snatched a power double leg takedown to put Brown on the canvas again.

From there, Smith kept peppering away with his ground and pound, especially with shots to the body as Brown was stuck underneath him. It stayed that way until the final horn as Smith picked up another impressive victory

Now 5-0 in the UFC, Smith appears poised for a jump in competition and he might be hunting top 15 competition sooner than later.
