UFC Vegas 124 Loses Bonfim vs. Brady, Heavyweight Scrap In As Headliner

With Sean Brady injured, November’s UFC Vegas 124 was in need of a new main event. And that newly created headliner arrived shortly after news of Brady’s fight with Gabriel Bonfim falling through, as a heavyweight scrap is now penciled in for the main event.

That fight will see Johnny Walker (23-10, 1NC) compete as a heavyweight for the second time in the UFC when he takes on Waldo Cortes-Acosta.

News of the booking was first reported by journalist Laerte Viana, who also broke the news of Brady vs. Bonfim falling through.

Brazil’s Walker returned to the heavyweight division for the first time since prior to his UFC run when he defeated Mick Parkin at UFC 332 earlier this month. The knee strike KO improved Walker to 2-1 in his last three fights. It also landed Walker in the UFC’s heavyweight top 15, at least as calculated by the META AI rankings (Walker has yet to be ranked by members of the media).

Waldo Cortes-Acosta is 1-2 in 2026, having lost back-to-back match-ups against Alexander Volkov and Curtis Blaydes after starting the year with a victory over Derrick Lewis.

The odd man out in all this, Gabriel Bonfim, is expected to be rebooked for a future card.

Taking place at the Meta Apex in Las Vegas on November 7, 2026, the UFC Vegas 124 card features the following reported match-ups:

  • Waldo Cortes-Acosta vs. Johnny Walker
  • Tatiana Suarez vs. Virna Jandiroba
  • Davey Grant vs. Elijah Smith
  • Ko Seok-hyeon vs. Wellington Turman
  • Billy Elekana vs. Lucas Fernando
  • Mantas Kondratavičius vs. Andre Petroski
  • Karine Silva vs. Gabriella Fernandes
  • Mitch Raposo vs. Marcos Degli
  • JosΓ© Mauro Delano vs. Murtazali Magomedov
  • Keiichiro Nakamura vs. Ollie Schmid
  • Priscila Cachoeira vs. Nina Nikolija MiloΕ‘eviΔ‡
  • Jonny Parsons vs. JosΓ© Henrique Souza
