Raul Rosas Jr. taps Colby Covington in just 43 seconds in submission only grappling match

Raul Rosas Jr. needed just 43 second to tap out Colby Covington in their submission only grappling match at Hype Fighting in Italy on Tuesday.
Accepting the match on late notice after Dillon Danis withdrew, Rosas barely broke a sweat as he showed off his Brazilian jiu-jitsu skills against a much larger opponent in Covington.
Rosas scored an early takedown much to Covingtonβs surprise and the UFC bantamweight contender was quick to jump on the back and immediately start working towards a submission. Once he got into position, Rosas locked on a rear naked choke to look for the finish.
Covington did his best to resist but he was forced to tap out just a moment later with the end coming just 43 seconds into the 10-minute match. Aftewards, Rosas praised Covington for accepting the match against him while also touting his future plans in the UFC.
βIt feels great,β Rosas said about the win. βI was here in 2019, I became a world champ, so Iβm glad to be back against a legend like Colby Covington. Being able to do it front of Conor McGregor, heβs a legend.
βIβm going to become the youngest UFC champion. Iβm coming for that belt. Thatβs my main goal. This is just a second thing we do for entertainment. Iβm glad to be able to share this with Colby Covington.β
For his part, Covington offered no excuses for the loss but he admitted he was looking forward to getting back to his wrestling as he prepares for a showdown against Khamzat Chimaev in RAF in Abu Dhabi in two weeksβ time.
βI just came out a little slow,β Covington said. βThis is the first time Iβve done jiu-jitsu in years. Every set back is a good opportunity for a comeback. I will get my hand raised next time.β
Covington now prepares for his return to RAF while Rosas awaits his next assignment from th UFC following a recent win over Raoni Barcelos.
